Hotel Riu Montego Bay

My mother and I went on a vacation to beautiful Jamaica. We stayed at a lovely resort, Riu Montego Bay. This was my first time in Jamaica! One thing I noticed right away was how hot it was, and the fresh coconut and mangos were every where.

September is my mother’s birthday month and she likes to use the each day as a celebration. (As she should) We started early by heading to Hotel Riu Montego Bay. Riu has many different hotel locations, however I feel like we hit the jackpot with the Montego Bay.

Hospitality, dinning, entertainment, and spa services were incredible. Our room had a balcony that looked out to the beach, and the hotel beds didn’t make me miss my bed at home! (I really like my bed) As soon as we got there we booked pedicures! From there, we grabbed food, and took a tour of the resort.

Every Friday night Riu hosts an all white party. The entertainers handed out balloons, and started a conga line! I was wearing heels for this party and lasted about an hour until my legs couldn’t take any more jumping. The vibes on the first night were amazing.

Before booking the trip I asked my mother if she wanted to do any excursions… this trip was strictly a sleep, eat, beach, repeat vacation. (Mostly sleeping) If you are looking for a great place to take naps.. Go to Hotel Riu Montego Bay. You can nap by the beach, by the pool, by the water slides, and even in the pool on their lounge chairs.

The food at the restaurants was pretty tasty! I mostly had fruit and eggs. I was a little apprehensive about my allergies. My mother confirmed the food was delicious. There were quite a few restaurants to go to. A few needed reservations, and there was a main center for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The mangos and papaya were my favorite.

We did venture off of the resort to attend mass on Sunday at Blessed Sacrament Cathedral. The church was beautiful, the mass was very moving. The parishioners celebrated their young community with awards for excelling in their studies and sports. I love to see the next generation doing incredible things.

We headed home on Labor Day… didn’t really want to leave I loved the beach. The water was so calm and inviting. Hotel Riu Montego Bay is definitely worth the trip, the stay, and the vibes. You’ll meet some really cool people, and don’t miss out on all the naps! What a great way to start off my mothers birthday month!
